South Island Aquarium was founded by the late Mr Lim Kim Kiat in 1969. Started off as a one-man distributor and exporter of aquatic plant and live ornamental fish in Changi, it became a small family business 2 years later.In 1994, the company restructured to form a private limited company, South Island Aquarium Pte Ltd. 3966 sqm of production facility was acquired in 1995.

Today, South Island Aquarium Pte Ltd has firmly established itself in the European and Pacific Asia market as a leading purveyor of aquatic plants and live ornamental fishes.
